Acupuncture may present some very mild side effects, which usually self correct. At times a tiny bruise can form where the needle has been inserted. Cupping and guasha are techniques that can be used during an acupuncture session. Cupping leaves a bruise that can last for about 6 weeks, but normally fades after a few days. The same time length is applied to the bruise (sha) caused by guasha, a technique that uses a tool to gently scrape the surface of the skin.
